Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. The origins of the Association for Asian Studies began with the publication of the Bulletin of Far Eastern Bibliography in 1936. The Bulletin was expanded in a more comprehensive journal in 1941 and renamed The Far Eastern Quarterly .
